This product is for the ages of 7-9 years of age, product ships with:

1) A device that attaches to the helmet and provides a visable indication to let the player, coach and parent know that the athlete has sustained an impact with a significant ”G” force and should be evaluated further.

2) A baseline test to be administered prior to the athlete participating in the event. Our Romberg test takes 2 minutes to administer.  After a significant impact has been sustained, the test should be re-taken and the results compared.  A deviation (slowing of response) provides additional input that the athlete should be evaluated.

GFORCE SAFETY believes that a detector coupled with a pre and post-impact testing protocol provides a reliable method of capturing the, sometimes subtle, signs of brain injury. Each Shockwave Impact System includes a detector and a Romberg Test. The test is completed at the beginning of a season or before activity, as a base line. The test is then repeated whenever an injury is suspected. Comparing the results of the pre and post impact test helps to inform return-to- play decisions.  The Romberg Test is able to be administered on the sidelines as an immediate reaction to suspected injury.

Several, reputable, unaffiliated companies offer computer based cognitive testing solutions that act as a diagnostic tool for medical professionals.  Please consider AXON Sports (www.axonsports.com) for this type of cognitive testing service.

GFORCE SAFETY and Shockwave Impact Systems believe that cognitive testing along with evaluation by medical professionals are key parts of a comprehensive protection solution.

The Shockwave REC product is ideally suited for lacrosse, hockey, skiing, snowboarding, and bicycling.  The Shockwave Impact System’s family of impact detectors mounts easily to the helmet of any athlete.

To Install a Shockwave REC device:

Shockwave REC products are age specific. Please select the appropriate age rated device.

Select an area on the outside and back of the helmet as close to the base of the neck as possible without obscuring helmet certifications and safety warnings. The impact indicator should be mounted with its long axis horizontal (parallel to the ground).

Both the REC Impact Indicator and the helmet should be at room temperature before installation.

Carefully clean the helmet surface with water and a light detergent like dish soap.  Rinse the area with a clean damp cloth to remove any soap residue and dry the area completely before installing the impact indicator.

WARNING: Do not attempt to bend the plastic ampoule shroud or the glass ampoule to shape it to the rounded surface of the helmet. Some wrinkling of the adhesive sticker may occur and should be expected.  Bending the plastic or glass components of the device to get a tight fit may activate the device and will void the warranty.

Place the adhesive sticker surround on the helmet surface in the preselected cleaned and dried location.

If you have questions about installation or would like professional installation for a large number of helmets please contact GFORCE SAFETY at 1800-773-4907 or contact us
